Developing relationships between place, people and objects is what I aim to do in my art practice.
I focus on the more distant relationship I have with Japan through my grandmother. I draw influences from Japanese culture and express the dynamic of my relationship with it, through video, sculpture and site-specific work.
The other half of my practice plays with creating relationships between two components; one object or material will dictate the form of another. The relationships become linked and a non-verbal language communicates new meaning.
While both facets are explored individually the crucial elements are the points of intersection.
